About Us

Queensland Performing Arts Centre [QPAC] opened on April 20th, 1985, as a place for the public and creatives to connect, create and celebrate. We showcase a remarkable range of performing arts events, share stories and traditions, create educational spaces and foster research and engagement in our community. QPAC Collections has been the custodian of Queensland’s rich performing arts memory ever since, collecting, protecting and sharing objects and artefacts that help to capture and preserve our unique performing arts history and cultural heritage.

QPAC is an important public space and a second home to many local performing artists, creatives and companies who have donated significant material to our Collections. We currently hold around 90,000 items, including our prestigious UNESCO Memory of the World material which is recognised internationally as a collection of irreplaceable cultural heritage.

QPAC acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the unceded Meanjin land, skies and waterways on which our community lives, works and comes together.
