The mural is a stylised representation of the Pacific region, reflecting its tropical nature and depicting "the tenuous and dramatic balance between good and evil" using imagery of Queensland and its integration with the region. Two copies of a limited-edition Artists' book featuring Daws' reflections on the visual and poetic imagery depicted in the mural and its conceptual and technical development also included, along with photographic documentation.
Commissioned by the Advisory Arts Committee for the Queensland Cultural Centre in 1984 for $121,000. The work was painted in the artist's Beerwah studio and installed prior to the official opening in April 1985.
