Date20th July 2022DescriptionJali is a noun and means West African historian, storyteller, praise singer, poet or musician. In this one-person show, Oliver Twist uses personal anecdotes, drama and humour to tell his story. Jali is an emotional story where Oliver refuses to be defined by his past and reflects on his life and what it looks like now. Oliver fled the Rwandan civil war at age four and spent his childhood in Malawi living in a refugee camp before moving to the city when his parents started a small convenience store. Oliver and his family were accepted into the Australian government's refugee intake and moved to Ipswich in 2014, beginning a new life.ProducerQueensland Performing Arts CentreLive NationDirectorOliver TwistWriterOliver TwistComposerDaniel DenholmSet designMorgan MoroneyLighting designMorgan MoroneySound designDaniel DenholmPerformersOliver TwistVenueCremorne Theatre, QPAC
